Cree and Micronetics: new appointments

Cree Inc of Durham, NC, USA has appointed Robert Pollock as senior vice president of worldwide sales. Pollock, at 54 years old an industry veteran with almost thirty years experience of sales and sales management, will report directly to Cree’s chairman, president and CEO, Chuck Swoboda.

"One of Cree’s priorities is to expand our global sales, marketing and distribution capabilities. Bob brings a great mix of industry and sales expertise to this important position," said Swoboda. "I look forward to working with Bob to build our sales team to support our current customers and drive Cree’s growth into the emerging markets for more energy-efficient lighting and power."

Pollock’s sales career began at Hewlett Packard with its LED and RF/microwave product groups, but mostly recently he was vice president of sales at Philips Lumileds. He has also held sales positions with Qusion Technologies and Anadigics. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Meanwhile, Micronetics Inc of Hudson, NH, USA, which makes microwave and radio-frequency components and integrated subassemblies has recruited Kevin Beals as vice president of Business Development. Micronetics also makes GaAs power amplifiers at its subsidiary Stealth Microwave of Trenton, NJ, USA (acquired in June 2005).

"Kevin brings a tremendous amount of in-depth integration business development experience," says president and CEO David Robbins. "He will be instrumental in contributing to our organic growth in key emerging commercial and military markets."

Beals has nearly 25 years of related design and sales experience with highly integrated technologies for military and commercial electronic markets.

During 15 years at M/A-COM Inc, which makes RF, microwave and millimeter-wave components and GaAs and InP substrates, he was district sales manager, managing several strategic accounts with large, multinational, defense electronics companies, and securing major programs such as Collision Avoidance Radar, WolfPack, F-22, JSF, JTRS and RFID.

Previously, Beals held product line management and engineering positions at Alpha Industries for eight years.
