Anadigics' InGaP-Plus HBT technology behind Samsung's SGH i600 smartphone.

Anadigics Inc of Warren, NJ, USA, which makes radio-frequency ICs and front-end solutions for wireless handsets and broadband communications, is shipping its AWT6277 HELP WCDMA power amplifier (PA) module to Samsung for its SGH i600 smartphone.

An ultra-thin tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 smartphone, with a full QWERTY keyboard, the SGH i600 offers HSDPA, EDGE, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel cam, video calling, RSS feed reader, and podcast downloads.

The AWT6277 HELP WCDMA PA includes Anadigics' High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP) technology, which the company says reduces WCDMA average power consumption by 50%. Selectable bias modes optimize efficiency for different output power levels, providing efficiencies of 41% at +28.5 dBm and 21% at +16 dBm. The 4 mm x 4 mm x 1.1 mm surface-mount PA incorporates matching networks optimized for output power, efficiency, and linearity in a 50 O system. It is enabled by Anadigics' InGaP-Plus HBT technology, which combines InGaP HBT and pHEMT devices on the same die.
