Skyworks popular with infrastructure base station OEMs

Skyworks Solutions Inc announced it had secured design wins with four of the industry's top five infrastructure base station OEMs.

Over the last two years, Skyworks has invested in R&D to expand its cellular infrastructure portfolio and bring the same levels of radio frequency (RF) integration to the cellular base station market as it has to mobile handsets.

The company’s infrastructure products are designed for current and next-generation base stations, and other wireless applications. Its expanded portfolio includes high-performance receiver front-ends, down-converters, linear power amplifiers (PAs) and drivers, as well as RF microwave discrete and passive components. Each component covers a wide range of frequencies, making them ideal for base stations, satellite transceivers, wireless routers, wireless local loop (WLL), image storage modules (ISMs), telemetry, RF identification (RFID), and other global wireless applications.

Skyworks infrastructure products, which have already shipped more than one million units in 2006, include:

SKY65028: an ultra-wideband linear amplifier fabricated using Skyworks' high-reliability aluminum gallium arsenide (AlGaAs) heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) technology.

SKY65004: an ultra-wideband PA manufactured using Skyworks' AlGaAs HBT technology. According to the company, the device is ideal for use in the driver stage of infrastructure transmit chains for Trans-European Trunked Radio (TETRA) transceivers, multiband GSM, advanced mobile phone system (AMPS), PCS, defense communications system (DCS) handsets, and many other wireless applications.
