Germany’s NL Nanosemiconductor has extended the lasing spectrum width of its new semiconductor laser. According to the company, lasing with uniform intensity distribution (with only a 3dB modulation) of about 75 nm has been demonstrated.
Furthermore, the samples demonstrated a lasing spectrum wider than 100 nm, which sets new records, the company says. In single lateral mode operation, 750 mW was obtained.
CWDM products based on silicon photonics technology will provide the main market for the lasers, although such lasers are also expected to find applications in optoelectronics.
