Skyworks Solutions Inc of Woburn, MA, USA, which supplies RFICs, cellular subsystems and analog semiconductors, has introduced a family of general purpose gallium arsenide (GaAs) attenuators for linear applications, including UMTS, WCDMA, WiMAX and WLAN.
The digital single-positive-control step attenuators are also designed for base station transmitter and receivers, and can be used in radio frequency identification (RFID) transceivers. These broadband, low-insertion loss attenuators are built in 3 x 3 millimeter packages. The bilateral radio frequency (RF) ports allow input and output. In addition, an external control voltage of only 2.7 to 5.5 volts (V) is required.
Skyworks recently reported revenue of $197.1m for its fiscal third-quarter 2006 (to end-June). This is up 6% sequentially on $185.2m the prior quarter and up 3% on $191.5m a year ago.
