Freiberger's managing director becomes CEO

Substrate manufacturer Freiberger Compound Materials GmbH of Freiberg, Germany, which claims about a 30% share of the GaAs wafer market, has appointed Dr Hermann Schenk as chief executive officer. He replaces Dr Klaus Romanek, who has decided to pursue new professional interests. Schenk joined Freiberger in June as managing director, after founding Covion Organic Semiconductors GmbH and serving six years as its CEO.

Schenk has a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Bonn, Germany. He has long-standing experience in the electronic materials industry and worked for several international companies holding senior management positions, says
Freiberger.
